Role Description :
The General Manager – Legal will lead the legal function across all business verticals, including MEP contracting, prefab manufacturing, procurement, HR, and compliance. This role will oversee contract vetting, litigation, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and legal advisory for the management team.
Key Responsibility Areas:
1. Contract & Commercial Law
Draft, review, and negotiate project contracts (EPC, turnkey, JV agreements, NDAs, MoUs).
Ensure risk mitigation through proper clauses, indemnities, warranties, and liability management.
Guide project and commercial teams in contract execution and dispute avoidance.
2. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure corporate compliance with Companies Act, labor laws, environment laws, and industry-specific norms (e.g., safety, pollution control, etc.).
Liaise with statutory bodies and ensure timely filing, licensing, and renewals.
Keep abreast of updates in construction and infrastructure-related laws.
3. Dispute Resolution & Litigation
Manage and track all ongoing litigations including arbitration, civil suits, labor court matters, and vendor/customer disputes.
Appoint and coordinate with external counsel as required.
Lead alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and settlement negotiations where applicable.
4. Corporate Governance
Support board-related legal matters including shareholder agreements, corporate filings, and legal structuring.
Ensure ethical and transparent legal practices aligned with company values.
Maintain legal documentation and repository systems.
5. Leadership & Advisory
Serve as a legal advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional teams (HR, finance, operations).
Train business units on legal awareness, contract management, and compliance norms.
Build and lead the in-house legal team.
Must Have Requirements:
Education:
LLB / LLM from a reputed law school or university
Company Secretary (CS) qualification is a plus
Experience:
12–18 years of experience, preferably in engineering, infrastructure, real estate, EPC, or construction industries
Strong exposure to commercial contracts, vendor/client disputes, and industrial law
Excellent knowledge of Indian contract law, labor law, industrial law, and corporate law
High attention to detail, analytical ability, and structured communication
Business acumen to support commercial decisions with legal insight
Ability to work independently and in high-pressure, project-based environments
Strong ethics, discretion, and judgment.
