Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Role
The Performance Engineering team is responsible for analysing, optimising, and fine-tuning the entire trading stack to improve latency, robustness, and competitive edge on financial exchanges. As a Performance Engineer, you will work closely with Infrastructure and Software Engineering teams, gaining exposure to advanced low-latency technologies such as microwave networks and FPGAs used in live trading environments.
A central part of the role involves analysing terabytes of daily full network capture data to uncover patterns, validate hypotheses, and identify performance bottlenecks. You will prototype and test innovative technologies in both production-like lab environments and real-world settings, including early-stage commercial solutions and academic collaborations, assessing their latency impact and practical applicability.
Core Responsibilities
Develop and prototype new ideas, solutions, and technologies to enhance system performance
Design, build, test, and deploy clean, reusable code to extend internal analysis platforms
Apply systems knowledge and statistical modelling techniques to identify technological edge
Perform precise latency measurement and deep root-cause analysis across the trading stack
Communicate insights effectively with traders and cross-functional technology teams
Skills & Experience
3+ years’ experience in at least two of: statistics and modelling, distributed systems, computer networks, operating system architecture, or ultra-low-latency environments
Strong analytical and quantitative mindset with a passion for data-driven problem solving
Proficiency in Python, C++, and object-oriented programming
Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast) and/or Linux internals preferred
Experience working across both internal and external infrastructure layers (e.g., exchange connectivity, network stack, trading systems), with exposure to trading-facing components considered a strong advantage
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Self-starter mentality with the initiative to independently identify and execute on opportunities
Technology & Environment
The engineering culture encourages selecting the best technologies for each challenge and actively exploring new tools where measurable performance gains are possible. You can expect a fast-paced, feedback-driven environment with significant ownership from day one, within a collaborative and technically rigorous setting where ideas are openly shared across teams and offices.
