L2 Azure AKS & ARO Support Engineer / Administrator

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced L2 Azure AKS & ARO Support Engineer / Administrator to provide operational and administrative support for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Red Hat Open Shift (ARO) platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong Kubernetes fundamentals, hands-on Azure cloud experience, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues while collaborating effectively with application teams and L3 support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L1 and L2 operational support for AKS and ARO clusters
- Monitor cluster health, nodes, pods, workloads, and networking components
- Troubleshoot and resolve pod, node, deployment, and connectivity issues
- Execute routine operational tasks as per SOPs, runbooks, and change processes
- Handle incidents, alerts, and service requests, performing initial triage and resolution
- Escalate complex issues to L3 engineering teams with clear analysis and documentation
- Participate in incident bridges, war rooms, and outage calls, providing timely updates
- Perform shift handovers and maintain accurate operational documentation
- Support platform availability, stability, and performance in 24x7 / shift-based environments
Required Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience administering Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and/or Azure Red Hat Open Shift (ARO)
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts:
- Pods, Deployments, Replica Sets, Services
- Name spaces, Config Maps, Secrets
- Working knowledge of Azure services, including:
- Virtual Networks (VNet), Subnets, NSGs
- Azure Load Balancers, Azure Monitor
- Proficiency in kubectl, Azure Portal, Azure CLI, and Open Shift Console
- Basic to intermediate Linux troubleshooting skills
- Understanding of containerized application architectures and networking concepts
Communication & Management Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to coordinate with application teams, cloud engineers, and support teams
- Effective time management and ownership of assigned tasks
- Comfortable working in high-pressure incident scenarios
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts and on-call support
Good to Have
- Azure
Certifications:
AZ-900, AZ-104
- Kubernetes Certification: CKA
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools:
- Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana
- Experience with ITIL processes and ticketing tools
