IT Business Analyst

Reporting to: Head of IT
Tenure: 1-Year Fixed Term Contract
Objective: The IT Business Analyst will play a role in ensuring the successful delivery of digital initiatives by acting as the key interface between users and the IT team. The role focuses on rigorous analysis of business workflows, accurate translation of requirements into system designs, and ensuring that delivered solutions meet user needs, are fit for purpose, and are embedded effectively into business-as-usual operations.

The role will support system development, integration, and process optimisation across academic and business units, with particular emphasis on workflow-based platforms and enterprise systems.

• Produce, analyse, document, and prioritise business and functional requirements from stakeholders across academic and professional services.
• Analyse existing business processes and design future workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and user experience.
• Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications and workflow designs that can be implemented by technical teams.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions to validate requirements, workflows, and proposed solutions.

• Work within agile delivery environments to support the analysis, design, testing, and implementation of new systems and enhancements.
• Define acceptance criteria and support system testing, including user acceptance testing (UAT), to ensure solutions meet agreed requirements.
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks early in the delivery lifecycle and work with stakeholders to resolve issues proactively.
• Support system rollouts and ensure solutions are transitioned effectively into business-as-usual operations.

• Act as a consistent point of contact between business users, IT teams, vendors, and project managers to ensure alignment throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Contribute to system and integration design discussions, including interfaces, reporting, authentication, and data migration requirements.
• Support the configuration and customisation of SaaS platforms and workflow-based systems in line with institutional needs.

• Produce clear functional, process, and test documentation to support system delivery and ongoing use.
• Prepare and deliver training sessions and user guidance where required to support adoption and effective use of new systems.

• 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience with relational data modelling, process mapping, data visualisation, reporting.
• Understanding of technical concepts including but not limited to API’s, interfaces, data cleansing & security, SaaS based offerings, data manipulation & movement (ETL), relational databases & TSQL, Cloud based platforms such as Azure & automation.
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and operate as a trusted business analysis partner.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels — from eliciting and documenting requirements with users to communicating progress and outcomes to senior stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage and support a diverse range of stakeholders, including third-party vendors.
• Curious and proactive mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Collaborative team player who takes ownership of deliverables and works in a structured, organised manner to meet agreed timelines.
