Summary

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, supervising, and monitoring operations, maintenance, and repair activities within the Property Management Division of the Recreation and Parks Department. The position oversees maintenance and small capital construction projects, including facility inspections and project development to support departmental operations. The role supervises assigned staff, provides training and performance evaluations, and manages associated budgets. The Facilities Supervisor also coordinates work with other divisions, external agencies, and the general public to ensure effective service delivery.

This is a non-union position and is exempt from overtime.

  • Provide leadership to assigned staff by setting priorities, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
  • Conduct training, coaching, and performance evaluations; support employee development and ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Participate in hiring processes, make recommendations on selection decisions, and address performance concerns in accordance with City policies.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and accountable work environment.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and custodial care of City facilities to ensure safe, clean, and functional environments in compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and procedures.
  • Supervise the inspection, construction, repair, and upkeep of facilities, systems, and related structures using building control software.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage facility improvements, small capital projects, and building upgrades, including the development of project scopes and timelines.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and administer contracts for construction, maintenance, and service work; monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Assist in developing specifications, obtaining quotes, and coordinating work performed by outside vendors and contractors.
  • Assist with developing and administering the Property Management, Capital, and Fleet budgets; forecast staffing, equipment, and material needs.
  • Monitor and approve expenditures, recommend budget adjustments, and support budget presentations to boards, commissions, and the City Council.
  • Maintain inventories and procure supplies, equipment, and materials in accordance with purchasing policies and budgetary limits.
  • Manage systems and records related to public electric vehicle charging stations, including monitoring usage and documenting consumption.
  • Review work methods, procedures, and productivity levels; recommend and implement improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain required reports, documentation, and records.
  • Coordinate activities with other City departments, external agencies, contractors, volunteers, elected officials, and members of the public to ensure effective project and service delivery.
  • Respond to inquiries, service requests, and complaints, providing information or referring individuals to the appropriate staff as needed.
  • Conduct and reinforce ongoing health and safety training, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Attend and participate in professional meetings and training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
