This is a hybrid role, located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.

What You ll Do
  • Independently provide data and perform actuarial calculations related to product development, benefits, provider reimbursement, stop loss, health management, disease management, pharmacy programs, premium rates, reserves, and administrative costs.
  • Monitor data from internal departments, review it for content and accuracy, and identify associated problems.
  • Produce various analytical reports that monitor utilization and cost trends, revenue, claims liability, membership, administrative costs, and provider reimbursement and performance as requested by internal and external customers.
  • Develop and maintain computer programs to support analyses, processes, and reports, considering reproducibility and potential improvements.
  • Consult with internal and external customers to assess scope and complexity of projects; complete projects accurately and efficiently within timelines; regularly report status and outcomes.
  • Prepare written documentation on all projects to provide a peer review trail and ensure continuity and integrity of responsibilities, including project work plans and outputs.
  • Present findings to multiple levels of internal and client leadership as needed.
  • May assist in the training of entry level analysts.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field, or 4 years of work experience.
  • 2 years of actuarial analysis experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools.
  • Knowledge of Python or another computer language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.
  • Experience in health insurance and/or an actuarial department.
  • Proficient in Tableau and visual storytelling.
  • Experienced in automation of codes and procedures.
  • Participation in an actuarial student program.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong project management, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in a programming language and ability to learn from others; proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication; ability to explain trends to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; able to conduct self and peer-reviews to ensure accuracy.
  • Ability to take direction well and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements

The following are essential physical requirements and must be performed with or without accommodation:

  • This is primarily a sedentary role; ability to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, including the human body.
  • Ability to keyboard and communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
