Position

Summary

The Assistant Controller is responsible for a variety of areas including working in a team environment, developing innovative and more effective processes and identifying and streamlining current processes to gain efficiencies. This position will play a significant role in managing the accounts payable, general ledger and fixed assets. The Assistant Controller will supervise team members as assigned and will be responsible for ensuring that work is properly completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing processes, reviewing journal entries, accruals and reconciliations, preparing schedules and submitting standard and ad hoc financial reporting schedules as required including account analysis.
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures.
  • Supports Banks mission and core values.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to prepare and file the bank’s Forms 10-Q and 10-K, press releases, Call Report and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assist with analysis and review of the bank's financial performance by collecting, analyzing and reporting financial and statistical data.
  • Responsible for managing accounting system software and troubleshooting any issues related to the accounting system.
  • Develop, implement and update operational processes and procedures to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and documentation of data flow associated with the accounting team’s daily functions.
  • Liaison with accounting software, and other system related vendors and consultants.
  • Leads and directs the work of day-to-day accounting personnel.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and will work closely with the team to ensure reporting and reconciliation deadlines are met.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in order to improve processes throughout the organization.
  • Self-motivated and team player who takes initiative to complete assigned tasks and projects.
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Responsible for team development, goal setting, and on-going coaching to ensure activities are performed within department and company guidelines and policies.
  • Assist with special projects as necessary.
