Overview
St. Pius X Catholic School in Mountlake Terrace seeks a detail oriented and committed part time Music Teacher, starting immediately. St. Pius X is a Preschool thru 8th grade Catholic school residing on the grounds, and fully in partnership, with the St. Pius X Parish community. WORK SCHEDULE
: 14 hours/week, must include Wednesday mornings, 78 day/year based on school calendar plus additional evenings for performances
BENEFITS

This position is part time and not benefits eligible
PAY
: $18,000-$21,000. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
I. POSITION PURPOSE To promote an understanding of music as an expression of our love and thanksgiving for God.
- To develop in each student a joy of music and an appreciation for Catholic liturgical music
- To discover and develop the musical talents of student
- To stimulate thought and imagination that touches a student's heart, mind, soul and spirit
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- A focus on performance, music theory, and music appreciation for students
- Directing performances and leading music for class liturgies
- Planning and providing clear and intentional focused music/choral instruction
- Select appropriate music, books and instructional aids/supplies as necessary
- Help to prepare for the school's liturgical celebrations
- Prepare students to sing at school liturgies
- Collaborate with the teachers in providing musical programs for school ceremonies and seasonal programs (for example: Nativity program, Spring Concert, and Talent Show)
- Communicating effectively with students, parents and colleagues
- Evaluate/report each student's musical growth, performance, and musical understanding
III. PREFERRED
- Valid Washington State Teacher Certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Education with major or minor of study in Music
