Job Description

At Linked In, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a Linked In office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

Team Description

We’re the team that keeps Linked In’s software supply chain secure, compatible, and discoverable — at massive scale. Linked In’s codebase spans thousands of services and libraries with deeply interconnected dependency chains. We build the platforms, automation, and intelligence layer that lets thousands of engineers ship code confidently every day without worrying about broken dependencies, license violations, or invisible compatibility failures.

Think of us as the team that answers three fundamental questions across Linked In’s entire codebase:

  • What code exists and how does it connect? (Code Discoverability)
  • Is it safe to make this change? (Guardrails)
  • Is everything up to date and compliant? (Dependency Management)
Responsibilities
  • You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of Linked In products that require design, architecture, and coding.
  • You will participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap.
  • You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.
  • You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.
  • You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.
  • You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user‑centric applications that operate 24×7.
  • You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year(s) of management experience or 1 year(s) of staff level engineering experience with management training
  • 5 years of industry experience in software design, development, and large‑scale software engineering
  • Experience programming in object‑oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C /Scala/etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • 2 years of hands‑on software engineering/technical management and people management experience
  • 7 years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
  • 5 years programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C , C#, Python, Go, etc.
  • Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications
  • Understanding of common performance patterns and anti‑patterns in distributed systems
  • Successful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver multiple projects on time and with quality
  • Active involvement in the creation and execution of technical strategies and roadmaps
  • Hire and retain world‑class engineers by providing career growth, mentoring, and high impact projects, while taking intelligent risks to improve the way work is done
