As an Armed Security Officer, you will be part of a highly trained security team supporting critical facilities and infrastructure, with training in safe weapons handling and marksmanship. You are an integral part of the security services Inter-Con provides daily.

Job Description:

  • Constant or frequent personal surveillance of secured areas
  • Close observation of persons within secured areas to detect damage, misuse or theft
  • Monitor equipment deliveries and construction contractor activities
  • Conduct interior and exterior patrols; log visitors, vehicles, and vendors; issue visitor badges as required; maintain logs and access control
  • Report suspected illegal or unauthorized acts
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions that could cause fires, explosions, or hazards
  • Prohibit unauthorized personnel and vehicular access
  • Enforce trespass procedures and apprehend when required by local post orders
  • Monitor and respond to alarm systems
  • Demonstrate good presence of mind and timely decision-making
  • Notify appropriate agencies and management per post orders
  • Support building fire and emergency action plans
  • Use mapping software to locate facilities
  • Prepare and submit legible security reports and assist investigators
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies; assist with crowd and traffic control as directed
  • Make timely communications check-ins
Qualifications
  • Communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
  • Reliable transportation
  • Physically capable of performing the assigned work
  • Good general health without conditions that would interfere with duties
  • Meet licensing, registration, and certification requirements in the assignment state
  • Prepare and submit security reports that are legible and complete
Requirements

Basic:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Submit to background investigation
  • Submit to 5-panel drug screening
  • Submit to DMV records check
  • Submit to industry-approved psychological testing
  • Free of criminal convictions
  • Complete an online security questionnaire
  • Must be able to use mapping software (Thomas Brothers/Map Quest-type)
  • Must be able to operate hand-held radio or other communications devices
  • Basic computer skills

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Licensing, Permits &

Certifications:

  • Valid California Driver's License
  • California Security Guard Registration Card
  • Exposed Firearms Permit with former military or law enforcement experience
  • Certified in First Aid, CPR, AED, NERC training (where needed, within 45 days)

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Well-proportioned and in good health; no defects interfering with duties
  • Binocular vision, corrected to 20/30
  • Ability to distinguish standard colors
  • Hearing sufficient for ordinary conversation at 20 feet (hearing aids permitted)
  • Ability to perform duties requiring moderate to arduous exertion (stairs, lifting up to 50 pounds, running, self-defense)
