The Legal Department at Samsung Research America (SRA) headquartered in Mountain View, CA provides legal support for the SRA labs that work on cutting‑edge innovations and for departments such as Finance, Purchasing, IT, and general affairs.
Position SummaryIn this role you will support the SRA legal team by collaborating with and advising business leaders on a variety of matters, including corporate & regulatory compliance, privacy laws and regulations, and ethical considerations. You will help create policies, provide training to mitigate risks, monitor regulatory progress, and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies.
Position Responsibilities- Perform and facilitate compliance and privacy risk assessments and identify areas of risk and compliance vulnerability
- Establish ethics and compliance initiatives in conjunction with the General Counsel and coordinate and implement such initiatives throughout SRA
- Manage and maintain SRA policies and procedures while aligning them with Samsung HQ and North America HQ policies
- Partner with attorneys to provide privacy‐related support for commercial agreements
- Develop appropriate training and train SRA employees (at all levels) on a regular basis
- Partner cross‑functionally with multiple decision makers to audit internal processes
- Coordinate with the General Counsel regarding the process for acting on compliance complaints
- Craft relevant and engaging communications to educate leadership and team members on compliance activities
- Compile and analyze data to prepare compliance reports for HQ and internal team members
- Assist with gathering and organization of documents for litigation matters
- Coordinate with Procurement regarding the use of outside vendors
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5+ years’ experience in a compliance/risk management role
- Good understanding of U.S. and global ethics, compliance, and privacy issues and risk areas
- Excellent issue‑spotting capabilities
- Outstanding judgment and discretion regarding critical matters
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and across all levels of an organization with demonstrated success in leading cross‑functional teams
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments at one time
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Ethics and compliance certification from CCEP or other recognized compliance organization
- Experience in a large, complex, multi‑national organization
- Experience working in the Legal Department of a technology company
- Bilingual English & Korean
$117,000—$160,850 USD
