OverviewNews Break is hiring a dynamic venture role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The ideal candidate would need to be Founder material himself/herself and move freely in AI Founders circles, spend a significant portion of their time within the startup community focused on AI technology and media verticals. He or she is a high‑energy self‑starter who has an engineering background and can source AI deals from a technical angle, build trusted relationships with founders, generate consistent deals for our investment team, understand approaches to building products and companies, and drive value for founders through professional insights and special projects.
Roles and Responsibilities- Actively source deals and manage our pipeline. Build relationships across startups, venture capital firms, startup accelerators, and other ecosystem partners.
- Lead diligence and execute deals by evaluating thesis fit, financial models, leadership quality, business execution, and other relevant variables.
- Serve as committed partner to portfolio teams as they navigate the entrepreneurial journey. Discern what makes portfolio companies unique and how News Break can support their growth trajectories through technical enablement (user acquisition, product‑led growth, monetization, etc.).
- Lead internal firm operations, including quarterly reporting, fund administration, marketing efforts, portfolio gatherings, annual meetings, and platform operations.
- Computer Science, Engineering, or any hard sciences degree (undergraduate, masters or PhD) from top tier University.
- 3+ year of software engineering, ML engineering experience;
Founder experience preferred. - Progressive business experience in early‑stage venture investing or recent graduate from top‑tier MBA.
- Existing network in the San Francisco Bay Area’s startup ecosystem.
- Founder ’s mindset, builder’s mentality and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills and strong executive presence with an ability to present thoughtful input to decision‑making.
- Passion for innovative technologies and artificial intelligence, with a strong pulse on key trends, themes and players.
The US base salary range for this full‑time position is listed below. Pay may vary based on a number of factors including job‑related skills, level, experience, geographic location and relevant education or training. At News Break, we design our overall rewards package to attract top talents. Depending on the position, the role may also be eligible for discretionary bonus and options.
