Lead Accountant – Lending
Our client, a global fintech technology company, is seeking a Lead Accountant to support its rapidly expanding lending portfolio.
Location: This position is hybrid, with 3 days per week onsite in Mountain View, CA.
Job Description: This is a high visibility role within one of the client’s fastest growing business lines, focused on modernizing and scaling lending operations. The work blends operational accounting, technical accounting, and financial reporting while partnering closely across the organization.
Responsibilities- Lead operational accounting and financial reporting for lending products (including term loans and revolving credit).
- Own accounting policies and practices for lending activities; collaborate with internal and external auditors.
- Assess accounting and reporting risks, applying judgment to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
- Research and document technical accounting matters and ensure proper application of US GAAP.
- Oversee month/quarter/year end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial record accuracy.
- Prepare financial and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with cross functional teams (FP&A, Treasury, Credit Risk, etc.) supporting lending products.
- Communicate accounting requirements and conclusions effectively to various stakeholders.
- Support internal controls for lending products (including SOX); recommend and implement process improvements.
- Work directly with external auditors to support audits and internal control testing.
- 7+ years of accounting experience.
- CPA (or equivalent) preferred.
- Operational accounting experience with lending products (term loans, revolving credit); banking or fintech background strongly preferred.
- Strong US GAAP technical accounting knowledge related to lending products (e.g., expected credit losses, interest income, transfers of financial assets).
- Experience preparing technical accounting memos and communicating with internal/external stakeholders.
