As an Avionics Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of the Vehicle Design and Integration team and report to the Vehicle Design and Integration Manager. This cross-functional role sits at the convergence of avionics, mechanical, integration, and production teams, with hands-on work designing, building, integrating, and testing harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware. The position will be located at our facility in Mountain View, California.

• Define hardware interfaces in collaboration with the avionics, mechanical, and integration teams.
• Design and detail harnesses, including routing definitions.
• Design and test enclosures for environmental protection.
• Design structural mounts for securing hardware in the aircraft.
• Design, install, and test hardware on a remotely operated aircraft.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate components on the airplane.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
• 2+ years of experience in mechanical or avionics hardware design
• Ability to route harnessing (in CAD and in the airplane) strategically
• Experience with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods
• Experience designing and analyzing structural mounts
• A love of spatial packaging
• Be logical, inquisitive, and eager to teach and learn

• 4+ years of experience in harness design and avionics packaging
• Experience performing design trades for and detail design of aerospace flight harnesses
• Experience with NX routing and Capital Harness Designer
• Experience designing avionics enclosures
• Experience working on certification-path aviation development projects
• Experience testing hardware to DO-160 requirements

The estimated salary range for this position is $86,500 to $156,500 per year, plus cash and stock option awards and benefits. We offer stock options, employee medical, 401k contribution, collaborative coworkers, and a casual work environment.
