OverviewWe are seeking a senior-level General Contractor consultant or former City/County Inspector with 10–20+ years of experience to serve as a construction quality advisor and mentor. This role is not about daily production labor — it is about oversight, education, and raising the standard of work across our projects.
Ideal Background- Licensed General Contractor (active or inactive)
- Former City or County Building Inspector
- Construction Manager with strong field and inspection experience
- 10+ years (15–20+ preferred) in residential construction or inspection
- Strong knowledge of:
Framing, waterproofing, structural, MEP coordination - California codes and local inspection practices
- High-end custom home construction
- Ability to clearly explain why something is right or wrong — not just point it out
- Construction Quality Oversight
- Perform periodic site walks at key construction phases (foundation, framing, MEP rough-ins, waterproofing, insulation, finishes)
- Review subcontractor work for code compliance, best practices, and build quality
- Identify deficiencies, risks, or shortcuts before they become costly issues
- Provide clear, practical correction guidance to PMs and subs
- Educate Project Managers and Superintendents on: proper sequencing of trades; common failure points in custom homes; inspection readiness and documentation; long-term performance and durability issues
- Conduct field training sessions, walk-through reviews, and post-inspection debriefs
- Help develop internal quality checklists and standards
- Code & Inspection Expertise
- Advise on California Residential Code, local amendments, and inspection expectations
- Prepare teams for city inspections and help reduce re-inspections
- Serve as a technical resource for complex or high-risk details
- Process Improvement
- Pre-inspection and turnover procedures
- Provide feedback to leadership on systemic issues and improvement opportunities
- Detail-oriented and quality-driven
- Respected by trades and field staff
- Strong communicator and mentor
- Practical, solutions-focused (not just theoretical)
- Comfortable working independently and advising leadership
- Site visits scheduled based on project phases
