Dispatch Transportation CDL drivers on delivery routes to ensure safe and accurate delivery of products. Supervise pickup, usage, and return of Smith owned, leased, and rental equipment. Ensure strict driver compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and local laws/standards. Oversee the H2A Driver pool for the site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Schedule and prepare new and returning driver paperwork for your site.
- Monitor driver expirations and qualifications and ensure they remain current.
- Assign resources and assign load start times to trips to maximize night delivery possibilities.
- Monitor drivers’ Hours of Service (HOS) to ensure drivers are eligible to drive.
- Notify drivers of random DOT Drug Testing for your site.
- Coordinate with other sites and departments to maximize efficiency in delivery of product and ensure trucks depart on time.
- Maintain Daily Yard Check file showing equipment usage and assignments.
- Appropriately handle emergency situations like accidents, illness, and injuries and involve necessary parties.
- Accurately and timely process trip settlements for drivers and contract carriers.
- Actively participate in Weekly Transportation team meetings.
- Make delivery appointments with vendors and customers, when needed.
- Actively participate in Site Leadership team by attending site meetings to share Transportation status updates, concerns, and observations.
- Attend compliance training with other site personnel.
- Represent the Transportation department at site events.
- Represent Smith Gardens with a cooperative, positive, and professional attitude.
- Working knowledge of DOT Laws & Regulations and general trucking procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and in an effective, professional manner.
- Able to learn Transportation software.
- Comfortable in an office environment, shipping docks/yards, and in trucks & trailers.
- Occasional travel for meetings, training, and conferences.
- Associates or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years Supervisory experience
- Previous Fleet Management or Transportation experience preferred.
$26 - $28 Per Hour
- $17.00-$18.50
- 21.50 to 23.50
