Diesel Mechanic Ii – Day Shift

Monday–Friday | 7:00am to 3:30pm

Pay: $22.00–$30.00/hour (DOE) | Non-Exempt, Hourly

We’re seeking a Diesel Mechanic II to join our maintenance team at our Mount Vernon facility. This role is ideal for a mechanic with a solid foundation in diesel repair who’s ready to build advanced skills in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment. • Perform routine maintenance and entry‑to‑mid-level repairs on diesel‑powered trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
• Assist with diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and engine‑related issues
• Conduct inspections and accurately document findings and repairs
• Support senior mechanics during major repairs, overhauls, and component replacements
• Test and verify equipment to ensure repairs meet safety and performance standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including tools and service bays
• Participate in an on‑call rotation as needed

• 1–3 years of hands‑on diesel mechanic experience preferred

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Diesel Technology certificate or Associate’s degree strongly preferred

• Working knowledge of diesel mechanical systems and repair techniques
• Ability to read and follow service manuals, schematics, and written instructions
• Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance records
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
• CDL is a plus, but not required

• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 100 lbs
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces
• Comfortable working in a loud, dusty, high‑traffic industrial environment
