Riverside Gardens Swim and Tennis Club (RGSTC) is seeking a dedicated, professional, and high-energy Head Coach to lead the Tsunami Swim Team for the 2026 Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL) season. The ideal candidate will foster a love for swimming while promoting sportsmanship, safety, and technical excellence.
Season Timeline & Schedule- Duration:
Tuesday, May 27, 2025, through the final NVSL All-Stars meet (late July). - Pre-Season (May 27 – End of School):
Practices held Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. - Regular Season (Post-School – July):
Morning practices Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (Includes "Mini T" developmental program). - Commitment:
Attendance is mandatory for all practices, meets, clinics, pep rallies, and team functions.
- Instruction:
Provide expert coaching on swimming techniques (strokes, kicks, starts, turns) and conditioning for all age groups. - Leadership:
Manage and mentor assistant coaches; oversee staff attendance, scheduling, and substitutes. - Administration:
Develop and review meet entries (A/B meets, relays, IM Invites) using team ladders; maintain swimmer records and B meet cards. - Facility Management:
Act as the back-up Pool Operator during team hours; manage facility opening/closing and ensure the deck remains clean and safe. - Team Culture:
Instill NVSL values of sportsmanship and spirit; organize motivational gatherings and produce the end-of-season awards slideshow. - Communication:
Meet weekly with Team Representatives; resolve parent or official concerns promptly.
- Certifications:
Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications are mandatory. - Training:
Safe Sport and concussion training as required by the NVSL. - Licensing:
Must possess a valid Fairfax County Pool Operator’s license. - Conduct:
Must maintain the highest standards of personal conduct and serve as a positive role model. - Compliance:
Strict adherence to NVSL rules and drug/alcohol-free workplace policies.
- Prior
Work Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 years of competitive swim coaching experience; NVSL coaching experience is highly preferred.- Demonstrated experience in working with and developing swimmers of all ages and abilities.
- Strong knowledge of competitive swimming techniques and NVSL rules and procedures.
- Swim
Experience:
Competitive swimming experience.
The Head Coach position offers competitive pay based on experience.
Additional income opportunities may be available through private coaching sessions for team members.
