Overview

The Maintenance Planner will lead the planning and scheduling process for the plant's preventative maintenance program, the predictive maintenance program, and the planned work orders. This role will also lead the reliability improvement program with predictive maintenance activities such as infrared, vibration analysis, lube analysis, and PM optimization. Additional responsibilities include managing the store room activities, inventory levels, ordering new parts, setting up new parts, and optimizing inventory levels.

Functions/Responsibilities
  • This is a leadership and transactional role. The position should be able to communicate well and be a strong team player. This role will communicate with all different levels of employees from the Plant manager to an operator.
  • Utilize E Maintenance (CMMS) system to plan work orders, review work orders to understand downtime issues, use Shop Logix reports (automated downtime database) to understand downtime issues, and manage a group scorecard updated monthly.
  • Manage the inventory for the store room, set up new parts for the store room, and work on minimizing downtime due to no spare parts.
  • Review and maintain all incoming work requests to ensure timely planning and completion.
  • Maintain accurate information in the CMMS for all new, existing, and decommissioned equipment.
  • Monitor factors contributing to KPIs such as: safety (recordable and lost time accidents), equipment breakdowns and downtime, PM completion percentage, PM and line change over time deltas, cost (labor and parts), and the ratio of preventative/proactive maintenance to reactive maintenance.
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving operations and solving maintenance-related problems. Initiate, implement, and manage the maintenance program based on best practices.
  • Maximize uptime and reliability through planned maintenance where it is more effective than alternatives.
  • Rigorously apply safety standards and ensure all team members adhere to safety standards, identifying potential risks in their area.
  • Ensure 6S standards are applied and used for continuous improvement of the working environment.
  • Follow all work instructions and safety policies, including use of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout, housekeeping, and 5S standards to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; schedule mechanics' work assignments and project work; schedule and monitor machinery repairs and rebuilds.
  • Ensure all work orders are inputted into E Maintenance and kept up to date and accurate; coordinate with machine builders and parts room on repair parts and order parts when needed.
  • Ensure maintenance areas are organized and clean; attend to other duties as determined by management; attendance is an essential function of the job; be at the workstation at the beginning of the shift; assist with skills improvement for all mechanic levels.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Technical School graduate preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective communication skills, including writing, reading, presenting, and creating documents; capable of coaching, leading change, and articulating instructions and expectations.
  • Strong computer literacy for process management, business performance reporting, and communication (Microsoft Office, SAP, and CMMS).
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to influence, engage, negotiate, and motivate; able to articulate priorities, provide clear direction, delegate, and manage in all situations including plant emergencies.
  • Strong analytical skills to review data and drive actions to improve equipment OEE.
  • Functional knowledge of automated processes and machinery.
  • Strong communication, presentation, coaching, and counseling skills; able to lead change and build high-performance teams.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize; proven organizational capability to implement plans and collaborate with others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to treat team members with respect, communicate clearly, listen, and coach; able to work professionally under stress.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a production floor/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy: ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must be able to work in mechanically oriented situations, following supervisor or department mechanic instructions.
  • Must understand and apply safety precautions used with hand and power tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to be on feet up to 12 hours per shift.
  • Use of hands and fingers to perform job functions.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and climb.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment, up to 90+ degrees.
