Job Purpose and SummaryWe are focused on transforming health care for our customers and making our company a great place to work. Within our retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.
As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and providing caring service that exceeds expectations.
All duties may be restricted until a Technician has completed the required training, registration, and licensing.
Responsibilities- Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Create heartfelt moments and personalize experiences at pick‑up, drive‑through, and over the phone.
- Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores as required.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary staffing of off‑site clinics where allowed.
- Complete licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
- Review and collect patient information; track and document accordingly.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Meet state board of pharmacy requirements or laws for practice, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Must be at least 16 years of age if no state minimum age is specified.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high‑school equivalency program, if no state minimum education is specified.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, ensure prescription accuracy.
- Customer service and team orientation: help people in a friendly manner, respond to patients’ reactions.
- Communication skills: use verbal and written communication, active listening, clear instructions.
- Mathematical reasoning: calculate totals, days’ supply, and dosage accurately.
- Problem resolution: handle challenging interactions and choose best actions.
- Physical demands: mobile, lift up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, precise machine operation, visual acuity, etc.
- Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
- 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and travel to other locations as needed.
40 hours per week – Full time.
Pay RangeUSD $17.00 – $17.00 per hour (base rate).
