Chief Administrative Officer

Position Summary

Deaconess Illinois is seeking a visionary and mission-driven Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to lead hospital operations across our Crossroads facility. Reporting to the Deaconess Illinois Region President, the CAO will partner with executive leadership to set strategic direction, drive operational excellence, and ensure compassionate, high-quality care throughout our community. This role is pivotal in aligning hospital initiatives with the broader mission and values of Deaconess Health System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead hospital operations and management teams to drive performance, quality, and mission-based care.
  • Ensure financial and physical resources are responsibly managed with effective internal controls and budget strategies.
  • Cultivate a high-performing, values-driven leadership team through mentorship, engagement, and strategic vision.
  • Develop and implement operational goals aligned with system-wide priorities and metrics.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with physicians, employees, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards of quality and safety.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the hospital in the community and engage in service partnerships that promote public health and trust.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field (preferred).

  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, team leadership, and hospital administration.
  • Experience in a complex healthcare organization or health system preferred.
