Newly hired, Associate Engineers are introduced to all facets of the organization through a training program which is approximately eleven months in duration. This training program includes in-depth exposure to not only the Engineering department, but also Marketing, Operations, Sales, Corporate Development, and others.

Upon completion of the training program, an assignment is given with consideration of the candidate's strengths and interests, which are matched with the needs of the company. NTN offers an outstanding career path for talented, qualified engineers.

While there are many potential paths for talented engineers at NTN, the most typical assignment would be in one of the following areas:

• Applications Engineering:
  The applications engineering group is responsible for all technical correspondence between the customer and our design and manufacturing groups. Individuals in this group are expected to perform detailed technical analysis of our customers' applications, offer product recommendations, and aid in the design process. Good communication skills are essential, and some travel is required.

• Product Test and Analysis Engineering:
  The focus of the product test and analysis group is to provide engineering support in two areas:
  Product failure analysis is used to understand and document failure modes as well as offer solutions. Product testing is essential to develop and validate new designs. The test engineer is expected to determine test parameters and design equipment. It is essential that individuals working in this area are hands-on oriented and possess good communication skills.

• Design Engineering:
  Product design engineers develop final product designs of both bearing product and assemblies using bearings. These designs are based on input from the applications engineering, product test, and manufacturing groups. It is necessary to balance the customer's technical needs and goals with the capabilities of an efficiently running manufacturing plant. Individuals in this position must be creative and detail oriented with good communication skills.

• Market & Product Management:
  The market and product management group (within the marketing department) is responsible for developing new business opportunities. This includes pursuing new customers in target markets and industries as well as the development and launch of new products. Individuals are expected to gain a complete understanding of the market through voice-of-the-customer research and combine it with a thorough understanding of NTN's capabilities to effectively capture new business.
  
  Excellent communication and organizational skills are critical to an individual's success in market and product management.

• Sales Engineering:
  Sales engineers at NTN are responsible for managing current business as well as pursuing and securing new business opportunities. In this role the candidate is expected to have regular and ongoing communication directly with the customer as well as with multiple departments within NTN. The sales engineer and applications engineer form a team and work closely together to achieve goals and objectives.
  
  In this role good communication skills are essential as well as a willingness to travel.
