Position SummaryThe Division Head serves as a key instructional leader, responsible for the evaluation and improvement of teaching and the continuous evolution of the curriculum. You will provide educational guidance and administrative leadership to ensure District 214's goals are met while directly impacting students by teaching one course within the CTE/PE/DE department.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Staff Development- Evaluate & Mentor:
Supervise staff performance, encouraging professional growth and high standards of instructional excellence. - Champion Equity:
Collaborate with building and district leadership to ensure equity is infused into daily practice, actively working to disrupt educational inequities. - Drive Improvement:
Research and implement modern instructional strategies to enhance student learning across CTE, PE, and Driver's Ed. - Classroom Connection:
Maintain a direct connection to the student experience by teaching one class within the CTE/PE/DE division. - Strategic Professional Development:
Create and lead professional development aligned to the school's strategic plan, ensuring initiatives directly support instructional priorities and measurable student outcomes.
- Curriculum Oversight:
Facilitate the continual review and updating of curriculum to ensure it remains rigorous and relevant, with a focused effort on aligning curricula to standards and strengthening alignment within PLCs. - CTE Pathways:
Leverage a comprehensive understanding of career pathways, industry certifications, and internships to prepare students for post‑secondary success. - Future Planning:
Identify emerging trends in CTE and wellness to lead future program development and growth.
- Budget & Resources:
Oversee division budgets and allocate resources effectively to meet the needs of students and staff. - Data‑Driven Leadership:
Monitor student outcomes to ensure educational objectives are being met. - Strategic Input:
Provide vital input on building staffing, scheduling, and curriculum decisions. - Student Support:
Act as the primary administrative referral for student disciplinary matters within the division, fostering a positive school culture. - Master Scheduling & Staffing Alignment:
Contribute to the development of the building master schedule by projecting enrollment, developing section counts, and ensuring staffing allocations align with programmatic and student needs.
- Licensure:
Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative Endorsement. - Teaching Credentials:
Currently licensed to teach within the CTE, PE, or DE content areas.
- Proven Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to lead staff, manage complex budgets, and grow academic programs. - CTE or PE Expertise:
Deep knowledge of modern Career & Technical Education, including industry partnerships and certifications. - Collaborative Spirit: A proven track record of working effectively with district colleagues, administrators, and the community.
- Resource Management:
Ability to identify division needs and advocate for necessary human and material resources.
195‑day assignment
