Our client is a third-generation, family-owned commercial insulation contractor, is seeking an Accounting Manager to take full ownership of its accounting function. Founded in 1940 and consistently profitable, they have built a reputation for quality work, long-term customer relationships, and exceptional employee tenure.

What You Will Be Doing as the Accounting Manager:

• Own the full accounting function, including month-end and quarter-end close
• Manage job costing, WIP schedules, and cost-to-complete reporting
• Prepare journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll
• Manage payroll taxes, quarterly filings, and union benefits administration
• Partner with the external CPA firm on monthly WIP reporting and quarterly taxes, with the goal of transitioning work in-house
• Prepare and distribute financials and contractor prequalification packages
• Manage insurance renewals, benefits administration, and 401(k) coordination
• Maintain employee records, OSHA logs, unemployment reporting, and HR compliance files
• Supervise and mentor long-tenured AP/AR and payroll staff
• Identify and implement process improvements across accounting and administrative functions
• Serve as the primary financial and accounting partner to ownership

Experience for the Accounting Manager

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent hands-on experience
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in construction or project-based environments
• Strong background in construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and cost-to-complete
• Experience overseeing AP, AR, union payroll (a plus), and financial reporting
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Comfortable working independently in a lean, hands-on environment
• Proactive, take-charge mindset with strong accountability
• Detail-oriented problem solver with excellent follow-through
• Clear communicator who can partner effectively with non-financial leadership
