IT Support, Systems Engineer
Level 4 Data Center Technician
Location: Mount Pleasant, WI, United States.
Schedule: B side Nights:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and every other Wednesday 6p – 6a.
Job Type: Contract.
Pay: $46.20/hr.
We are seeking a highly skilled Level 4 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The Technician will be responsible for the break‑fix of GPUs, servers, network, and cabling, as well as ticket management (ITSM). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot‑air containment, and overhead cable containment trays.
Familiarity with interpreting BOMs and a strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies are essential.
- Perform tasks listed under Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 as needed.
- Move, inspect, install, and cable servers and switches according to wire maps.
- Bundle cables neatly, double‑check with network admins, and ensure all connections are up.
- Install additional components (NIC, drive, memory) and assist in unboxing and prepping servers.
- Audit servers and consumables and troubleshoot a variety of servers.
- Order replacement parts, install them, and ship back defective parts to vendors.
- Update firmware, configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
- Assist network admins with cable replacement, re‑routing, optics, and part upgrades.
- Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet for remote configuration.
- Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets.
- Serve as the initial contact/liaison, prioritize workload and manage multiple projects.
- Review build documentation, direct build activities, and ensure compliance with safety and data center standards.
- 10+ years of deployment and/or break‑fix experience in a data center.
- Extensive experience landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment.
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies (copper, fiber SM, MM, MPO, routing, dressing, connectors).
- Experience with optical modules (SFPs, QSFP) and fiber scoping/cleaning (SC, LC, MPO).
- Experience racking, stacking, and patching fiber and copper cables.
- Proven team‑leadership experience.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Experience with DC power and DC‑powered equipment.
- Strong communication skills and documentation using tracking systems, MS Office, and digital photos.
- Experience working in a Microsoft data center environment.
- Familiarity with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise‑level data centers.
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent.
- CompTIA Server+ or equivalent.
- CCENT or equivalent.
- Windows OS experience.
- CCNA certification preferred.
- MCP/MSCE certification preferred.
This is a contract position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI, requiring full‑on‑site work.
