SummaryThe Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires knowledge in each product area or department, helping to achieve store goals, upholding Hibbett's policies, and promoting sales and promotions. The Manager in Training serves as an ambassador of Hibbett, delivering a unique customer experience and acquiring and retaining customers.
In the Store Manager's absence, the Manager in Training assumes supervisory responsibilities and is trained in all Store Manager duties.
- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling store assets.
- Consult on action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are met.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed of inventory movements and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in all Store Manager responsibilities.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service highlighted in the manual, including greeting customers and assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell Hibbett merchandise and services.
- Uphold all Hibbett City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy of internal controls and informing management of potential fraud risks.
- Supervise employees in the Store Manager's absence, carrying out all applicable policies and laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
- Experience working in retail, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
- Team‑player, passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
