ESC Region 8 - Elementary Social Studies Consultant Center Responsibilities

  • Process all personal timekeeping, travel reporting and other paperwork in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional attire and grooming appropriate for the specific job position

  • Uphold and adhere to safety rules and policies of the ESC
  • Perform professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
  • Meet proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
  • Incorporate appropriate technology in daily work and exhibit continual growth as outlined by supervisor
  • Exhibit professionalism in all situations at the ESC
  • Develop collaborative and positive relationships with schools and co‑workers
  • Exhibit planning and leadership on assigned tasks and projects
  • Take initiative and exhibit innovative thinking
  • Keep supervisor advised of all pertinent financial and operational business
  • Handle constructive criticism in a positive manner
  • Follow up and follow through with services
  • Display professional loyalty
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Department Responsibilities
  • Handle and see to completion multiple projects simultaneously and on deadline
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be willing to work as part of a team but also independently
  • Uphold confidentiality of the information processed in all work, if required
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, including departmental staff, work team, and general staff meetings
  • Actively contribute to assigned work teams
  • Develop and implement an individual work plan that contributes to departmental, Integrated Academic Team, and organizational goals
  • Analyze metrics, evaluate outcomes, and adjust to optimize impact of work
  • Demonstrate a commitment to provide exceptional customer service

Social Studies Responsibilities
  • Provide training on effective teaching practices and assistance in the selection and use of instructional resources
  • Provide workshops to generate new or adapt social‑studies strategies for existing curriculum documents such as instructional units
  • Provide appropriate training and/or technical assistance on the Texas Knowledge and Skills for K‑5 Social Studies, Civics, and related technology application TEKS in preparation for state‑mandated assessments
  • Provide professional development for the integration of technology into the curriculum
  • Provide technical assistance to districts
  • Analyze data and provide appropriate interventions, strategies, and enrichment based on STAAR/EOC and local assessment data for social studies
  • Provide student seminars when feasible
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and other relevant professional organizations
  • Travel by personal vehicle to and from LEAs to fulfill program and project specifications; out‑of‑region travel may also be required
  • Coordinate and deliver effective training, staff development, and technical assistance in areas pertinent to the program or project
Special Assignments
  • Additional projects as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director
Terms of Employment

Up to 226 working days. This is an at‑will employment position. In the event of an economic slump, a reduction‑in‑force may be necessary; employees will be notified in writing.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate
  • Recommended by the ESC Executive Director
  • Other alternatives acceptable as determined by the Executive Director
