Pet Vet is proud to be one of the most loved small animal clinics in Mount Pleasant (as is evidenced by our 4.9 Google rating). We are a privately owned small animal clinic located in the Old Village district of Mount Pleasant SC right next to iconic Shem Creek. The Shem Creek area is known for its beautiful views and fantastic restaurants.

We are minutes to Downtown Charleston as well as the beaches of Isle Of Palms and Sullivan’s Island. Charleston is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, so we are now looking to add another veterinarian to our rock star team in order to keep up with the growing population and the demand for quality and compassionate veterinary care.

In addition to prioritizing our patients and clients, Dr. King also focuses on the staff. He has worked hard to create the kind of environment that encourages team work and productivity as well as promoting a healthy work/life balance. The result is a culture where people are valued and respected.

We are a two‑doctor small animal general practice that offers routine surgeries, digital radiographs, CO2 laser therapy, Pulse Vet Shockwave therapy, in‑house lab work, a well stocked pharmacy, etc. We mainly see dogs and cats but Dr. King will also see the occasional chicken in addition to orphaned and injured wildlife. Dr. Gordon Luke is our other full‑time veterinarian and he is well loved by staff and clients alike.

Our doctors lead by example and often collaborate, especially on our more difficult cases. Both doctors are always interested in furthering their knowledge and learning new things so a candidate that can bring something new to the table is exactly what we are looking for.

Candidates should be proficient in common general practice situations, routine surgeries, and urgent care. That being said, we are fortunate to have multiple emergency and specialty practices in the area, which we work with for cases that are more involved. We pride ourselves on our compassion, customer service, and patient care so a positive attitude and pleasant bedside manner are a must.

We keep a 2 to 1 technician to doctor ratio and we schedule so that our appointments are not rushed. We break for an hour for lunch every day. Our appointment hours are as follows:

• Mon‑Thurs 9a‑6p
• Fri 9a‑5p
• Sat 9a‑12p

Dr. King works the Saturday shift unless he is on vacation so there will be a few Saturdays a year that will need to be covered. Otherwise, you will have full weekends off.

• Commission based salary – 20% starting and increasing by 1% yearly until 25% is reached (rough estimated yearly earnings of $140,000‑$170,000)

• Must possess a Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
• Active SC veterinary license
• Current DEA license
• USDA Accreditation (or be willing to get accredited)
