Phlebotomist

Overview

Our Client, a Clinical Laboratory company, is looking for a Phlebotomist I for their Mount Pleasant, SC location.

• The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making work flow recommendations.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Explains clearly and courteously the process of venipuncture (blood draw) and other specimen collection as required. Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understands all physician orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test orders. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
  
  Packages specimens for transport. Stores specimens according to required temperatures and follows protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department trainings. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

• Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination; updating patient information, etc.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED; 0-2 years of experience.
