Veterinary Technician - Critical Care

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Critical Care department.

Pay: $20.00 - $33.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system
.

As a Critical Care Veterinary Technician, you will support emergency and critically ill patients through anesthesia, triage, monitoring, procedures, and patient care. You will contribute to mentoring teammates and maintaining a compassionate, learning-focused environment for pets and their families.

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
