American Health Imaging, a partner of Lumexa Imaging, is seeking a registered, patient-focused X-Ray Technologist for our Mount Pleasant, SC office. This is a part-time position, scheduled Monday – Friday from 2pm to 7pm.
The Virtual MRI Onsite Operator plays a critical role in supporting a credentialed Virtual Steering MRI Technologist with virtual MRI scanning by serving as the hands-on support at the imaging site. This individual is responsible for preparing patients, ensuring compliance with MRI safety protocols (Zones 3 &
4), managing equipment setup, and monitoring scans conducted by the Virtual Steering MRI technologists. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of MRI operations and safety standards, excellent patient care skills, and effective communication skills to facilitate coordination with the Virtual Steering MRI Technologist(s).
- Greeting, screening, changing, and preparing patients for MRI scans, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Set up the MRI suite and patient table in accordance with the protocol for each exam.
- Perform venipuncture and administer IV contrast when applicable and credentialed.
- Assist with setup and management of power injectors as needed (dependent on site vendor and remote capabilities).
- Serve as the onsite safety observer and technical aide during the virtual MRI scanning process.
- Assist with on-site patient emergencies until further medical help arrives.
- Maintain strict compliance with MRI safety policies, especially related to Zones 3 and 4.
- Reset and clean the MRI suite between patients, including coil changes and room preparation.
- Communicate technologist to coordinate scanning, troubleshoot issues, and ensure image quality.
- Assist Virtual Steering MRI Technologist with documentation of any issues, patient reactions, or equipment concerns.
- Working knowledge of MRI principles and scanning workflow.
- Comprehensive understanding of MRI safety protocols and potential hazards.
- Familiarity with MRI equipment, including coils, scanners, and injectors.
- Comfortable with basic technology troubleshooting (e.g., headset/audio resets, injector issues, connectivity).
- Ability to manage patient flow and room turnover efficiently and safely.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care.
- Strong observational skills to recognize patient discomfort or MRI safety risks during the scan.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in a fast‑paced or high‑stress environment.
- High school diploma or GED
- ARRT (R) certification
- MR Safety, System & workflow training documentation required (structured education).
- Current BLS (CPR) certification.
- Venipuncture certification preferred.
- Prior MRI experience or MRI safety training strongly preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift or maneuver up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to assist patients with limited mobility.
- Frequent interaction with patients and staff in a clinical setting.
