Join the Public Services Department as a Customer Service Representative performing a variety of administrative, clerical, and customer service duties.
JOB SUMMARYThe Customer Service Representative provides answers to daily customer service inquiries by phone and in person, processes service requests and work orders, maintains budgetary records, and assists with special projects.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide answers to daily customer service inquiries by phone and in person.
- Provide general information to Town employees; post related information as required.
- Process service requests and work orders; dispatch service calls to the appropriate division; refer requests to appropriate staff for timely response.
- Perform clerical duties including maintenance of budgetary records, typing, filing, sorting, e‑mailing, scanning and faxing of materials.
- Prepare letters and reports for lost controls, accident reports, disciplinary actions, and related personnel functions.
- Assist supervisors with special projects, process reports as required, and enters service request and work orders in asset management software.
- Receive and route incoming mail and files material for future use.
- Collect fees/monies and keep records of them.
- Compile information for statistical reports, take dictation, attend meetings, prepare minutes, and assist with purchase requisitions.
- Perform other duties as required.
- High school diploma.
- One (1) year experience in an office setting.
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the Public Services Department services and functions; knowledge of other departments throughout the Town.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting procedures.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and office software including word processing, database, internet, and spreadsheet applications.
- Skill in the use of mathematics.
- Ability to manage and organize tasks and records in a detailed and effective manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, and interact appropriately with Town employees, officials and the public in a professional manner.
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands and fingers. The employee may stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, grasp or feel, reach with hands and arms, maintain balance while sitting, standing or walking, and occasionally push, pull or lift objects up to 10 pounds. The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with occasional exposure to outside elements.
Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours in response to natural disasters and emergencies.
