Overview
Cothrom Òg Nursery seeks a fluent Gaelic‑speaking Manager to lead high‑quality childcare and early years education for children aged 3 months to 5 years. The nursery is part of Cothrom Learning Centre, a registered charity that provides learning opportunities and community development to the people of South Uist. The Nursery Manager will oversee all aspects of nursery management and ensure that a high‑quality Gaelic‑medium childcare service is provided for all children and their families, working closely with the Cothrom Manager to integrate into the wider adult learning services and the community.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop and evaluate the curriculum ensuring compliance with the Curriculum for Excellence, National Care Standards, Realising the Ambition and the Quality Improvement Framework for the Early Learning and Childcare Sectors.
- Lead curriculum planning and implementation through short, medium and long term planning.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and quality assurance in all nursery activities.
- Coordinate with adult learning services to integrate childcare support into wider community initiatives.
- Manage day‑to‑day operations and support staff to deliver a high‑quality Gaelic‑medium child‑care service.
- Hold a qualification that meets the SSSC requirements for practitioner/managers, or be willing to obtain an appropriate qualification while in post.
- Fluency in Gaelic is essential.
- Knowledge and experience of the early‑years sector, including curriculum frameworks and quality improvement practices.
- Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme – required for regulated work with children.
This is a full‑time position with some potential flexibility for the right candidate.
