CHP STANDARDIZED PATIENT TEMPORARY (PART-TIME)

Central Michigan University seeks a Standardized Patient (SP) to participate in student simulation exercises. The SP will portray patients, present case histories, undergo physical examinations, and assist students in developing communication and clinical skills.

• Present case history to students based on provided materials.
• Undergo a limited physical examination at the student’s direction.
• Assist students in developing communication and clinical skills.
• Support students in navigating challenging emotional situations.
• Wear a hospital gown during observation or video capture; remain comfortable with full examination and potential awkward physical maneuvers.
• Disclose any medical conditions that conflict with the assigned case before participating.
• Suitably stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, and lift as required.

• Ability to portray a patient effectively in a standardized manner.
• Willingness to accept ongoing feedback and integrate it into simulation performance.
• Comfortable with physical examinations performed on self.
• Strong reading and writing skills to absorb detailed case training.
• Excellent recall skills to accurately record encounter details.
• Strong interpersonal skills and basic computer proficiency.

• Acting or portrayal abilities following direction.
• Willingness to be examined by students in a non‑invasive manner.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using computers to watch training videos, complete checklists, and type comments.
• Reliability, punctuality, and dependability.
• Prior experience as a standardized patient preferred.
• Comfortable working with a diverse student and faculty population.
