The Director of Educational Design & Strategic Initiatives leads major projects that expand the Center's presence across the K-12 landscape. This role guides the development of new tools, strategic programs, and statewide partnerships that strengthen charter school authorizing while supporting broader educational progress. The Director will oversee emerging work in artificial intelligence, teaching and learning, educator pathways, research and the introduction of distinctive school models.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education, public policy, or a related field.

Experience with research design. Preferred evidence of prior publication.

Experience presenting at national conferences.

Demonstrated background in K-12 systems, pedagogy, and charter schooling.

Demonstrated ability to lead ambitious, multifaceted projects with independence and clarity.

Demonstrated strong communication and presentation skills across academic and professional settings.

Demonstrated ability to translate emerging ideas and evidence into practical tools and strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Education, Public Policy or a Related Field.

Duties & Responsibilities

Leads AI Focused Initiatives:
Design, test, and implement AI supported tools for charter school authorize rs and K-12 educators, including development of an AI learning module for teachers.

Advances Scholarly and Practical Inquiry:
Conduct and oversee projects examining pedagogy, school choice, and classroom practice; author book chapters, policy briefs, and scholarly articles.

Leads both qualitative and quantitative research projects. Uses professional knowledge and experience with research design to lead research projects that lead to actionable results for K-12 schools.

Engages in Public Scholarship & Dissemination:
Presents Center work at national conferences and represent the organization as a leader in K-12 advancement.

Uses data to help guide improvement in K-12 educational outcomes. Combines knowledge of both data analysis and K-12 systems to assist schools in overall improvement.

Strengthens Teacher Workforce Pathways:
Builds and manages strategic routes for educators to obtain certification through the university, with particular attention to supporting currently uncertified teachers.

Develops and Supports New School Models:
Identifies, analyzes, and assists in bringing forward distinctive charter school designs that respond to statewide needs.

Builds Strategic Partnerships:
Collaborate with authorize rs, districts, agencies, and community organizations to extend the Center's impact and align statewide improvement efforts.

Leads Complex Projects:
Manages multi year initiatives that enhance the Center's visibility and influence, ensuring alignment with mission, quality standards, and long term goals.
