Central Michigan University is seeking a Technical Event Specialist to assist with the on-site supervision of technical operations related to the setup, production, and breakdown of events and engagements. The successful candidate will operate and maintain complex audio and theatrical lighting systems.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and two years of experience in production services, including audio, lighting, staging, and rigging. They will also have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, project a positive and calm attitude, and be willing to work varied hours due to production schedules.
Responsibilities- Provides technical expertise for event production and reviews technical manuals for application.
- Assists in the management of production equipment and facilities for use compliance.
- Maintains equipment inventory, troubleshoots equipment malfunctions, and recommends equipment expenditures if necessary.
- Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with departmental standards, policies, and guidelines and adheres to timely documentation and assessment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in production services, including audio, lighting, staging, and rigging.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive and calm attitude.
- Willingness to work varied hours due to production schedule.
- Ability to problem-solve, lead, instruct, handle a large variety of details, and to work with all levels of organization.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Student supervisory experience.
- Computer expertise.
- Experience in event production in a university setting.
