Overview
The Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility is a minimum custody, male facility that houses approximately 1150 incarcerated individuals. Our goal is to offer treatment, work, education and apprenticeship opportunities in order to prepare them for their entry back into the neighborhoods of Iowa.
Responsibilities- Provide incarcerated individuals with dental screening and treatment in accordance with DOC dental services, policy and procedures; diagnose and treat diseases, injuries and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures; perform examinations of incarcerated individuals and utilize diagnostic procedures and instruments.
- Clean, fill, extract and replace teeth; design and build crowns, bridges and dental appliances.
- Provide clinical supervision of dental hygienists and other staff assigned to the clinic; ensure the dental services provided are in accordance with DOC HSP 1001 Dental Services and HSP 1003 Infection recommendations on the DOC Dental Program to the DOC Health Care Director based on professional research of recent studies and practices.
- Document services provided in the incarcerated individuals ICON Medical Records.
- Attend and participate in statewide health care meetings and any meetings at the facility.
- The work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
- Licensure as a dentist issued by the Board of Dental Examiners of the Iowa Department of Health shall be considered as qualifying.
