Aloia Law is a boutique law firm specializing in complex commercial litigation, real estate and business transactions, and municipal law. We are a well-established firm with an exceptional reputation for providing personalized service and maintaining long-term client relationships.
Responsibilities- Managing attorney dockets, calendars and files, including complex litigation documents
- Preparing, proofreading, and editing of correspondence, memos, pleadings and other legal documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Submitting court filings and following up with clerks on filings, dates, and appearances
- Providing occasional telephone coverage and cross-lateral administrative support, including preparing conference rooms and answering phones as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all matters
- Minimum 3 years of litigation experience (3 to 5 years preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in current Microsoft Office 365 applications, Adobe Pro, and legal document management software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with superior drafting and proofreading skills
- Strong knowledge of Michigan Court Rules and local rules applicable to Macomb, Wayne and Oakland Counties
- Proficiency in Michigan state and federal court e-filing systems
- Understanding of office procedures, legal terminology, common software applications, and filing procedures
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a diverse workload for multiple attorneys
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and business acumen when interacting with clients, potential clients, guests of the firm, and coworkers
- Self-driven and effective working independently or as part of a team
- Designation as a Certified Legal Secretary is a plus
