Position Summary: The primary responsibilities of the role include all aspects of processing; decontamination through set assembly, and sterilization. Depending on the clinical setting, preparation of surgical case carts and materials management may be expectations of the role.

Schedule: 11pm-7:30am
Hours per biweekly pay period: 80
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Responsible for the decontamination of all types of surgical instrumentation, power equipment, and medical devices.
- Inspects and performs functional checks on instrumentation/equipment to assure proper functioning prior to set/tray assembly.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of basic instrumentation as well as specialty instrumentation.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of common equipment used in sterile processing; sonic washer, washer/sterilizer, cart washer, Sterrad sterilizer, steam sterilizer, ethylene oxide sterilizer/aerator and Steris System I.
- Processes, wraps and labels all equipment and instrumentation for sterilization using appropriate wraps and containers.
- Performs proper documentation as it relates to the sterilization process.
- Performs all duties relating to vacuum and biological testing for all types of sterilizers.
- Communicates departmental equipment and supply needs to appropriate supervisor.
- Works and communicates effectively with all team members and OR staff.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Performs in accordance with established protocols in compliance with regulatory agencies to include state and local agencies, AORN, HFAP, OSHA and AAMI.
- Performs all duties relating to retrieving case sheets for OR cases using the computer system.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of pulling case cart with accuracy.
- Performs other related job duties as requested.
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
6 months work experience in a Sterile Processing Department or as a Surgical Scrub Technician OR completion of a college-level course in Sterile Processing
Preferred:
One to two years of formal education or training beyond High School in Post–High school course in Sterile Processing
