Summary
Programs and tends one or more industrial robotic welders to weld metal work pieces to specifications on a production basis by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Program robotic welder(s) by manipulating keypad to control movements of robot torch and positioner. Decide and program weld sequences.
- Program individual welds.
- Test program to verify weld points and part clearance.
- Collaborate with Engineering Department and other operators regarding fixtures and robot capabilities.
- Set up jobs by obtaining fixtures and components, locating the master job in the computer directory, loading and securing fixtures and components onto the robot table manually or using a forklift hoist, visually checking points of contact, and making adjustments as needed.
- Operate robotic welder(s) by continually loading components onto fixture, operating controls, adjusting the machine, and monitoring robot functions. Perform manual production welding processes.
- Perform first‑piece and in‑process inspection by checking parts per blueprint using calipers and tape measure, inspecting according to a C=0 chart, and completing an inspection form.
- Train robot operators in basic robotic welder operation and setup.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on robot(s) as required, and complete a maintenance log.
- Clean and scrape parts using a hand‑held grinder and scraper.
- Make MIG welds to add welds or touch‑up parts. MIG weld on production jobs as time permits.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The position may require occasional supervisory responsibility in the absence of a Teamleader and/or for relaying general information.

& ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED; 3–5 years of welding experience and/or training; basic blueprint proficiency required. Previous robotic programming experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures; safety rules; operating and maintenance instructions; and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively with vendors and employees of the organization.
Math SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning SkillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical DemandsEmployee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WorkEnvironment
Employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and a risk of electric shock. Noise level in the shop work environment is usually loud.
