Mental Health Technician / Patient Tech
PRN Mental Health Technician (MHT) position for men’s partial programs. MHTs play a vital role in providing excellent care for patients and are a member of the interdisciplinary team assisting in total client care through the implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care within a multidisciplinary team approach.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Maintain accurate and complete data and records.
- Intervene with suicidal gestures, inappropriate behaviors, elopements, etc., using proper CPI technique.
- Therapeutically communicate with patients, assist in developing appropriate boundaries and help develop social skills.
- Direct or redirect behaviors, demonstrating appropriate behavioral consequences; respond to impulsivity issues appropriate to the patient’s age.
- Recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of the patients under care.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- This position qualifies for shift differentials for hours worked between 3:00 pm and 7:00 am.
- One (1) year experience in a patient‑related field, required.
- One (1) year experience with psychiatric, trauma, or substance abuse patients, preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; further training/education in behavioral health and substance abuse treatment is preferred.
- Ability to communicate therapeutically and age appropriately.
- Current Georgia Driver’s License with the following restrictions:
- No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years.
- No multiple violations for driving without insurance.
- No more than 2 at‑fault accidents on record in the past 3 years.
- No convictions for DUI or DWI within the past 7 years.
- No convictions for serious infractions such as reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, or fleeing a police officer.
- No convictions for vehicular homicide or manslaughter.
