Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial services highly recommended.

Required Skills
  • Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross OR obtain Basic Life Support certification through Colquitt Regional Medical Center Educational Services upon hire.
Functional Demands

Physical Requirements:

  • Incumbent must be in good physical health and ambulatory.
  • Job requires long periods of standing, walking, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting, squatting and climbing within the Medical Center.
  • Visual and auditory acuity necessary. Works with or near fumes, chemicals, electricity, hazardous waste, flammable liquids, and dangerous equipment/machinery.
  • Exposed to machinery noise, dust/dirt and gases/chemicals.
  • Incumbent minimizes accident hazards by following safety precautions and wearing personal protective clothing.
  • Frequently carries/moves items up to 50 pounds.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains supply cart with material needed for job and ensures all supplies are properly labeled.
  • Performs terminal cleaning of each OR and Central Sterile daily.
  • Cleans OR rooms between cases.
  • Performs routine daily/weekly cleaning in Restricted Areas of OR. Damp dusts equipment, carts and furniture.
  • Makes beds and stretches with clean linen in correct manner and leaves ensures rooms are presentable.
  • Cleans sinks, mirrors, and surfaces and replenishes soap, towels and other disposable items.
  • Adheres to safety precautions and infection control policies while performing job duties.
  • Empties trash and removes soiled linens from rooms.
  • Transports instruments to Central Sterile for processing.
  • Follows instructions given by nurses when transporting and assisting with care for patients.
  • Assists in lifting, moving, and positioning patients for surgery.
  • Knowledgeable of specialty bed and equipment assembly.
  • Assists with receiving, distributing and shelving supplies delivered to the department.
  • Transports patients to and from OR utilizing correct patient identifiers; name and date of birth.
  • Performs any and all other job duties as assigned by supervisor for completion of job requirements.
  • Annual completion of World Health Organization hand hygiene education and training and its relationship to infection control in addition to physical demonstration and understanding of compliance monitoring.
