Monday thru Friday, 8am
-5pm. Hospice of North Alabama is seeking a compassionate, grounded, and spiritually-sensitive Chaplain in Decatur, AL. Our Chaplains provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and families during end-of-life care. This role is an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, offering a nonjudgmental presence and care that honors beliefs, values, and cultural backgrounds. Responsibilities
  • As a Chaplain you will conduct and ensure timely spiritual assessments for patients and families.
  • Participate in developing individualized care plans to address spiritual needs.
  • Provide direct spiritual support to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Serve as a liaison to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of spiritual services and communications.
  • Attend interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to care planning.
  • Offer education and spiritual care guidance to the care team.
  • Recruit and support community chaplains, spiritual counselors, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate and lead memorial or funeral services as requested.
  • Organize periodic memorials for staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Assist in supervising spiritual care volunteers.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited theology or chaplaincy program (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree).
  • Experience working with death and dying; hospice experience preferred.
  • Comfort in an interfaith setting.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile insured and in good working order.
  • Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs and values.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care.
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to network with community clergy and congregations.
