Senior Quantity Surveyor

Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a track record of working on major M&E projects, to be engaged on a permanent basis in Motherwell, Scotland.

We’re looking for an Experienced Quantity Surveyor with a track record in managing all costs and income within their area of responsibility. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Preferably, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, CICES or CIOB or working to achieve in the near future.

Experience of managing a small team of commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified is desirable. They will maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

• Request information and systematically check data
• Prepare Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyse tender documents
• Critically appraise, estimate and negotiate the above with 3rd parties
• Review complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
• Assist with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
• Monitor subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
• Prepare internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation and report to senior project staff
• Understand the customer contract and undertake customer and stakeholder management
• Analyse rates & prices, agree variations and/or compensation events as required
• Prepare, submit and negotiate claims when required
• Manage commercial aspects with customer and stakeholders for their area of responsibility
• Undertake constructability analyses using construction programmes
• Prepare procurement programme and help develop the strategy
• Support recruitment, supervision and development of team members (development, recruitment and retention)
• Have a good knowledge of and adhere to the company’s governance requirements and maximise LEAN/digital opportunities

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge
• MRICS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards
• CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
