Senior Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a track record of working on major M&E projects, to be engaged on a permanent basis in Motherwell, Scotland.

We're looking for an Experienced Quantity Surveyor with a track record in managing all costs and income within their area of responsibility. They seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. Preferably, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, CICES or CIOB or working to achieve in the near future.

Experience of managing a small team of commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified is desirable. They will maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

• Request information and systematically check data
• Prepare Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
• Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates with 3rd parties
• Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
• Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
• Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately
• Prepares internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation and reporting to senior project staff
• Understanding of the Customer Contract and undertakes customer and stakeholder management
• Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and/or compensation events as required
• Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required
• Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of responsibility
• Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes
• Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy
• Development, Recruitment and Retention; supports the recruitment, supervision and development of team members
• A good knowledge of and adheres to the Company s governance requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities

The following are essential:

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge
• MRICS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards
• CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
