Truck Driver – Warren Paving, Inc. – Moss Point, MS, United States

The Truck Driver is responsible for operating trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, asphalt, and other materials and/or equipment to various job site locations. Work includes yard duties such as stockpiling and moving materials as needed. This skilled position requires safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks per supervisor instructions, with limited direct supervision for routine tasks.

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures, using the appropriate tools and equipment.
• Follow all company policies and DOT/FMCSA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
• Follow the foreman’s direction for daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.
• Drive a truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, or bituminous paving materials.
• Check the vehicle to ensure it is safe to operate, inspecting tires, headlights, marker lights, stop lights, turn signals, engine oil, power steering fluid, coolant level, fan belts, and windshield wipers.
• Operate the vehicle safely and professionally regardless of location, speed limit, or traffic.
• Exhibit “defensive” driving skills and obey weight limits when loading the truck.
• Keep floorboards, stepping areas, and handholds free of trash, grease, rags, or other obstructions that could hinder operation.
• Operate controls for tarping the load and strapping the tarp, tarping all loads regardless of material hauled.
• Operate bed controls for raising/lowering the dump bed and the third axle.
• Hook and adjust tailgate spreader chains for tailgating material.
• Manually clean the tailgate and apron after unloading, keeping the inside of the bed free of material buildup.
• Monitor dash gauges (oil, temperature, air, tachometer, speedometer, amperage, and pyrometer) and inspect conditions to the sides and rear of the vehicle using mirrors.
• Constantly monitor the company radio for changes in assignment and dispatch.
• Submit daily logs that comply with company, state, and federal regulations, including a completed daily truck report.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and notify management; do not drive a vehicle with a known defect that could cause injury or property damage.
• Perform substantial body movement and manual labor, including handling the clutch, brake, accelerator, and steering, lifting, bending, and hauling materials up to 100 pounds.
• Adhere to all company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards, including safety manuals, the employee handbook, and the fleet safety manual.
• Answer directly to the supervisor.
• Regularly require sitting, using hands, reaching, and speaking; may require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, standing, and walking.
• Maintain vision abilities for close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and color recognition of traffic signals.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience with road construction in high-traffic areas preferred.
• Valid CDL license.
• Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• Minimum of 3 years of truck driving experience.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
• Documentation proving legal right to work in the United States.
