Engineering Design & Technologists, Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Engineer
A Mechanical Designer with 5 to 10 years of experience as a P& is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) that illustrate the flow of fluids, control systems, and equipment in industrial processes. They work closely with engineering teams to ensure the safe and efficient operation of complex systems.
Key Responsibilities- P&t: Create and update P&IDs using industry-standard software, such as AutoCAD, to accurately represent the layout and functionality of piping, equipment, and instrumentation in industrial processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers, process engineers, and other stakeholders to understand the requirements for P&IDs and ensure that they meet design specifications.
- Documentation: Generate detailed and clear P&, including equipment symbols, instrument details, piping layouts, control loops and asset naming & number.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that P&IDs comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and project specific requirements.
- Component Selection: Collaborate with engineers to select appropriate piping materials, valves, instruments, and other components based on design and operational requirements.
- Change Management: Manage changes to P&IDs by documenting and tracking revisions, and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of updates.
- Quality Control: Review and validate P&IDs for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that they are consistent with project goals and safety guidelines.
- As-Built Documentation: Create as-built P&IDs to reflect the actual configuration of systems after construction or modifications. This will require field walkdowns to QC accuracy of data and CAD work.
- Communication: Clearly communicate design concepts and modifications to team members and project stakeholders.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to less experienced team members and drafters in P&t.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design with a focus on P&t for industrial processes.
- Proficiency in P& (AutoCAD).
- In-depth understanding of industrial processes, equipment, and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards related to P&t.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate and high-quality P&IDs.
A Mechanical Designer with 5 to 10 years of experience in P&t is a critical asset to projects in industrial and manufacturing settings. Their ability to create and maintain accurate P&IDs ensures the safe and efficient operation of complex systems, contributing to the success of engineering projects and the safety of industry.
