This position involves performing technical and analytical services essential to the efficient operation of a power generation plant. The primary responsibilities include water treatment and chemical analysis of water, wastewater, and fuels, with the aim of providing chemical protection for steam generating equipment and minimizing outages caused by corrosion and deposits in steam cycle components. Additionally, the position focuses on minimizing efficiency losses and potential replacements of steam generating, condensing, and turbine mechanical components.
Compliance with governmental environmental regulations pertaining to water discharges is also a key duty in this role.
Operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment to produce demineralized water and service water for various plant applications.
Conduct sampling of water, wastewater, and metal deposits.
Perform analytical testing and monitor and sample plant effluents.
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Manage inventory of chemicals and laboratory consumables.
Oversee the handling and transportation of bulk chemicals and unloading.
Job Experience andEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or another scientific field, with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry.
Experience and proficiency in the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, with knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques.
2 years of industrial experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Broad knowledge of analytical, inorganic, environmental, and water chemistries.
Understanding of chemical treatment methods and the operation of water treatment plants.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems, interpret schematic diagrams, and identify water process problems.
Proficiency in various Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
