Industrial Refrigeration Technician (Freon Systems – Independent)Position Summary
Okanagan Specialty Fruits LLC (OSF) is seekingan Industrial Refrigeration Technician for its Moses Lakeapple processing facility. The Industrial Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the independent operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Freon-based industrial refrigeration systems supporting food production and cold storage operations. This role requires demonstrated competency to safely work without direct supervision while following established procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Independently operate and monitor Freon-based refrigeration systems
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls
- Respond to refrigeration alarms and abnormal operating conditions
- Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and charging in compliance with EPA regulations
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and refrigerant documentation
- Coordinate work with production, sanitation, and maintenance teams
- Support contractors during specialized refrigeration work
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- 2–4 years of experience with large commercial or industrial Freon systems
- Ability to work independently and safely
- Strong electrical and refrigeration troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in cold, elevated, or confined spaces
- Participation in on‑call rotation
- Occasional off‑shift or weekend work
