Location:
Samaritan Hospital, 801 E Wheeler Rd, Moses Lake, WA 98837, USA. This is a full-time Environmental Services Tech I position working from 3:00pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends.
- Clean patient rooms: wash ceilings, walls, windows, shades; wipe surfaces; dust; mop; wet mop; strip, wash, and make beds.
- Clean in all areas of the Hospital, Professional Center, and Pioneer Medical Center.
- Pick up garbage, wash wastebaskets, and reline with clean plastic liners.
- Clean lighting fixtures, tops of doors, vents, and other high areas.
- Remove and replace cubicle curtains and shower curtains; wash cubicle strings and curtains.
- Clean patient, public, and staff restrooms.
- Clean ice machines; defrost and clean refrigerators.
- Wash sinks, plumbing fixtures, drinking fountains, stainless steel, furniture, equipment, and casters.
- Clean occupied and terminated isolation rooms.
- Deliver clean linen; pick up soiled linen.
- Be available by page, phone, or radio while on duty with timely response.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to stay current in the field.
- Follow safe work practices and policies to prevent injuries; understand MSDS, infection control, equipment use, fire, disaster, and safe lifting.
- Ensure compliance with organization policies and procedures and labor agreements.
- Communicate courteously and efficiently with team members and other departments.
- Present professionally and maintain appropriate appearance in line with job requirements.
- Handle additional accountabilities as required by management to meet organizational standards.
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: One year of Environmental Services experience preferred.
- Ability to read and write and follow oral and written instructions; be alert to hazards.
- Knowledge of common cleaning supplies and equipment (mops, dry and wet vacuums).
- Ability to use ladders.
- Demonstrates competency on department-specific equipment.
- Critical thinking: seeks direction when needed; independent problem solving; logical and deliberate decision-making.
- Accountability and safe judgment; operate within legal and ethical guidelines.
- Ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum.
- Occasional climbing and crawling/kneeling.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent walking, standing, reaching, pushing/pulling, lifting, carrying, bending/stooping/crouching, twisting, and repetitive movement.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients, families, and the public.
